Vincent Seli reaches for the stars!

Vincent Seli joined City Lodge Hotel Bloemfontein in April 2019 as a Commis Chef, without formal qualifications but with an undeniable passion for the culinary arts. Recognising Vincent’s potential, General Manager Stephan Pietersen and his team supported his enrolment in a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme, financed by the Department of Tourism and facilitated by the Accredited Food & Beverage Institute. Through dedication and hard work, Vincent successfully completed the programme and is now a fully qualified Chef with an accredited certificate.

In March 2025, another exciting chapter in Vincent’s journey begins – after applying for the Junior Sous Chef position at City Lodge Hotel Bloemfontein, he was successful and steps into his new role on 1 April 2025.

Stephan says, “Vincent’s story is a testament to the power of opportunity, hard work, and continuous development. It highlights the importance of investing in our people and believing in their potential. His journey is an inspiration to all of us, reminding us that growth and success are within reach when passion meets opportunity.”

The HR Department adds, “Great job, Vincent! This is a true reflection of taking control of your career and enjoying the rewards. A big thank you to the Bloemfontein team for supporting him in his learning journey.”
