School holidays used to be what we’d dream about while sitting in Maths class, but as grown-ups they’re slightly more stressful than you remember.
The holidays may be a wonderful opportunity for you to bond with your children and spend quality time with them, but what on earth do you do with your kids during these breaks?
Planning activities for your children is the perfect way to keep them entertained, make memories and keep them from spending their entire holiday in front of the TV. Here are our suggestions for holiday activities that both you and your children will enjoy:
LEARNING CAN BE FUN:
Not every educational experience is boring and you can prove it to your kids. Taking your children to museums is a great way to show and teach your kids about the world around them.
Even younger children enjoy museums because they are visually stimulating. Younger children may not understand the importance of wildlife conservation or the difference between African cultures, but they are able to enjoy and process the beautiful displays.
GET CRAFTY:
Arts and craft activities are wonderful for rainy days. Depending on 
how adventurous you’re feeling, you can either find a children’s craft class near you, or you can host your own craft day and enjoy being creative with your children.
Younger children will enjoy simpler activities such as colouring in and painting, while older children will enjoy the challenge of papier-mâché, sculpting clay or learning to mosaic.
PAY A VISIT TO THE PAST:
History is so much more than just a subject at school and helping your children understand this can be interesting and fun. Take your kids on a history tour they’ll never forget!
We suggest planning a day out, inviting their friends and packing a lunch. Having their friends along for the ride means your children will have kids their own age to share the day with. Making packed lunches also means you can save your money for a special treat, such as a milkshake or chocolates for the kids.
UNDER THE SEA ADVENTURES:
A visit to your local aquarium is always educational and very interesting. We suggest finding out
if your local aquarium gives back through breeding programmes and educational talks. Some aquariums even have a catch, heal and release policy which means they serve as a type of hospital for animals who have been injured.
Kids of all ages love aquariums and there are always interesting things to learn about our vast and mysterious oceans, and the creatures that call them home.
