Travelstart recently wrote a very interesting expose on Pretoria. The real Pretoria, some might say.

As it turns out, our City Lodge Hotel Hatfield was mentioned, and we are glad that Travelstart brought attention to what’s really going on in a city that claims to always have its top button done up and suit and tie at the ready.

PRETORIA KNOWS HOW TO HAVE FUN

With at least 30 very affordable options at that! Well done to Travelstart for letting the world know what all Pretorians have been holding dear for many a year – when the meetings are done for the day, all you need to do is look around you for a wide range of things to do – from cultural, to relaxing and fun – that won’t break the bank.

It’s hardly surprising though, that such a beautiful and historic city knows how to entertain locals and visitors alike.

OUR FAVOURITE THINGS TO DO?

From Travelstart’s list, we’d have to say that our favourite activities at the moment are:

  • #10 – PARK ACOUSTICS:

If you’re lucky enough to be in Pretoria at the right time for this monthly event, then it really is a must for music and nature lovers.

  • #14 – VISIT THE BOEREMARK FOR THE BEST VETKOEK AND PANCAKES IN THE WORLD:

We don’t really need to explain ourselves on this one, do we? Prepare for that amazing sugar high now…

  • #16 – VISIT MRS PLES:

Especially relevant after the recent development in our human ancestory, a visit to the Ditsong National Museum of Natural History is not only a fascinating trip back into our history, but also a very affordable way to spend a few hours.

  • #20 – GO MOUNTAIN BIKING IN GROENKLOOF PARK:

Are you a bit of an adrenaline junkie? Never go anywhere without your trusty bike? Then take a break from that business trip and work through any stress by riding through the most amazing scenery – and more likely than not spot a wild animal or two on your ride as well.blogpic

  • #22 – SEEK OUT THE URBAN BEING SCULPTURE AND SPIRIT OF TSHWANE:

Is this one a little bit biased because it’s right in front of our City Lodge Hotel Hatfield? We think not… This sculpture is so amazing, you might want to take out an hour of your day to gaze up at it in its entirety.

At the end of the day, the offerings of Pretoria are as varied as the people who call it home. We want to know what your favourite spots are in this vibrant and beautiful city – so leave a comment or drop us a line on Facebook or Twitter. Even better? Show us your favourite place on Instagram.

Let’s explore, South Africa!
