Planning a romantic getaway isn’t easy, and it’s especially hard when you don’t have the extra cash to take your significant other to a fancy restaurant or take them to an exotic island escape.
An important thing to remember is that it’s not where you go, but rather the thought and effort you put into making a normal holiday or weekend away into something extra special for you and your partner.
Here are a few handy tips that will help you turn any holiday into a romantic getaway:
DO YOUR RESEARCH
This part takes a bit of prep work, but it’ll all pay off in the end, we promise.
The first thing you need to do is find out what your partner finds exciting or interesting and use it to plan where and when you’re going to go on holiday. For example, if your partner loves the beach, plan a holiday near the coast.
As mentioned before, planning a romantic time away can be costly, that’s why we suggest saving money by staying at either our Road Lodge Hotels or Town Lodge Hotels, and taking day trips to game reserves for game drives, going out for drinks at local cocktail bars or spending the day being pampered at a spa.
PLAN LITTLE SURPRISES
A fantastic way to create a romantic atmosphere almost anywhere is surprising your loved one throughout the day. These surprises don’t have to be Champagne and red roses, in fact, they can be relatively cost effective and sentimental.
We suggest buying your loved one their favourite chocolate and surprising them with it. Why not order their favourite bottle of wine at a restaurant? A surprise could even be a simple afternoon walk on the beach with an ice cream.
SUNRISE OR SUNSET
You simply can’t go wrong with a sunrise or a sunset. It may seem a bit clichéd, but watching the sun rise or set is a wonderful experience and it’s free!
We suggest you pick your time of day according to your partner’s habit. If your partner isn’t a morning person, don’t upset them by waking them up and making them look at the sun rising. They will most likely be grumpy about it and it could possibly ruin the moment. Rather, choose a time that suits both of you and enjoy the moment together.
The most important thing to remember is that a romantic getaway can be any holiday where you and your partner spend quality time together. Even cuddling up in your hotel room and watching TV can form part of a romantic getaway.
