We all watched with a heavy heart as President Cyril Ramaphosa announced South Africa’s return to lockdown level 4 this month. It is difficult, given how well things had been going, our country showing signs of turning the corner before the third wave hit us – fuelled by new variants. As a South African hotel group, we still stand by our President – it was a tough decision, but one made in the best interest of getting the spread of the virus under control.
It does, however, mean that we’ve needed to revisit our processes in order to ensure we comply with current adjusted regulations, as well as safeguarding our guests and staff to the best of our abilities. Here are some key things to note when staying with us during lockdown level 4:
First and Foremost, We Are Still Open
Business travel is still open, and many of those travelling for work are performing functions vital to keeping our country running. From before lockdown started (remember those days?) we implemented a host of protocols to ensure every aspect of your stay is safe, and we have continued upholding these protocols since. In fact, we’ve even done more to make things safer, like implementing our online check-in functionality to limit the amount of physical touchpoints you’ll come into contact with at our hotel.
Our Food & Beverage Services
We’ve made several adaptions to how we serve food and drink to our patrons. Guests are encouraged to enjoy prepacked meals and non-alcoholic beverages are served “on-the-go” or delivered as room service. Unfortunately, in line with the President’s announcements, alcoholic beverages will not be on sale. Our restaurants close by 8PM to allow for the deep cleaning and preparation for the next day of service, so be sure to get your meal order in before then!
Leisure Travel To & From Gauteng
The infection rate in Gauteng has drawn special attention and more stringent ruling. For this reason, leisure travel into and out of Gauteng is not permitted. While we can’t offer you the sea-side break that you may have been after, we can certainly still make you feel right at home – be sure to check on which of our Gauteng-based hotels are open and ready to help you relax.
Please Be Safe
The best protection is the most basic, as our President has said time and again. Our guests are required to wear a face mask when interacting with any of our staff or moving through a public area. We have sanitisation stations available and encourage our guests and staff to make frequent use of them.
Despite how clinical things may feel, as we strive to comply with the necessary protocols, we still offer warm and inviting hospitality. Please do your utmost to stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming all our guests back soon!
