The Maclear’s Beacon isn’t just the highest point on Table Mountain, it is also a historically significant marker used to calculate the curvature of the earth’s surface in the 1830s.
Visiting Maclear’s Beacon requires a 45-minute walk from Table Mountain’s upper cable station, so we recommend taking comfortable walking shoes. Also, don’t forget your camera to snap a selfie 1,086 metres above sea level.
