Our twosome in Kenya is about to become three, with development now underway on the 58th hotel under our umbrella in the beautiful city of Nairobi.

Construction is going well on our new 169 room hotel, meaning that our Two Rivers hotel is set to open its doors to our guests in the second quarter of 2017.

Occupancies in both our pre-existing Kenyan hotels, Fairview Hotel Limited and Town Lodge Upper Hill, have increased exponentially in the last six months, leading us to believe that our Kenyan based guests – as well as those visiting Nairobi on business or leisure – will welcome our newest hotel to the family with open arms.

In fact, 2017 should end up being a big year for us in our African expansion, with developments on track or in negotiations in Uganda, Tanzania, Windhoek and Mozambique.

Construction of the 147-room City Lodge Hotel Dar es Salaam has been delayed due to outstanding regulatory approvals impacted by Tanzania’s recent general election and the appointment of a new cabinet – but it’s expected that construction will start within the next couple of months with completion expected towards the end of the second quarter/beginning of the third quarter of 2017.

In Uganda, liaison is ongoing with the prospective landlord to reach a feasible outcome in the development of the planned 150-room City Lodge Hotel Kampala.

Meanwhile, our 151-room Town Lodge Windhoek development is on track. Construction of the hotel is expected to start in May/June and the hotel is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2017. In Mozambique, final approvals are being sought towards the development of the 148-room City Lodge Hotel Maputo. This hotel is expected to open in the third quarter of 2017.

We are very excited about our successful expansion into Africa on our quest to be a home away from home for all our intrepid travellers – no matter where work, adventure or relaxation take them. We will be there ready with a comfy place for them to rest their head and all the facilities they need to make their trip a success.
