THE EXTENDED TRIP
THE BACKPACK
Perfect for: Travelling on foot – be it hiking, or in a city moving between different locations.
PROS:
- Easy to wear
- Can be easily reused during the trip itself when exploring your destination
- Tends to be compact so will fit most luggage regulations
CONS:
- Can be difficult to pack, especially if packing clothes that wrinkle
- Can look too casual for business travel
- Can be uncomfortable if it’s not chosen properly for your body type
WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING:
- Make sure the backpack is good quality
- Must have padded straps and a structured back for comfortable wearing
- There are men’s, women’s and children’s backpacks – choose the right one for you and your size
- Chose a backpack that opens all the way down the front – packing and unpacking from the top can be frustrating
THE TROLLEY BAG
Perfect for: Short business trips, and air travel.
PROS:
- Easy to pull along, even if it’s heavy
- Keeps clothes tidy and folded
- Trolley bags tend to have many compartments, making it easy to stay organised
CONS:
- Can be bulky
- When you’re not able to use the trolley function, can be difficult to carry over distances
WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING:
- Make sure it fits the new air travel luggage regulations
- Check that the trolley handle is a comfortable height
- Ask what the weight of the bag itself is, as this could be very restricting for air travel.
THE SUITCASE
The perfect travel bag for: Extended holidays or trips where you need more supplies and different wardrobe choices.
PROS:
- Great for heavy packers
- Strong and well structured
CONS:
- Can be bulky
- Has to be checked in for air travel, so can be damaged
WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING:
- Ask for lightweight suitcases, so are not overweight once packed
- On soft cases – look for strong stitching and good quality material
- On hard cases – Make sure closes properly, that case is made of good material and not brittle
- Check locking options
