The City Lodge Hotel Group is forever striving to improve the service it offers its guests, wanting to give them a ‘home away from home’ experience. It is with this in mind that the group has greatly increased the complimentary wireless internet (Wi-Fi) availability at its hotels!
As of 1 January 2014 guests staying at any Courtyard Hotel, City Lodge Hotel or Town Lodge Hotel will receive an hour of complimentary Wi-Fi access per day, and those staying at a Road Lodge Hotel will enjoy 30 minutes complimentary Wi-Fi access.
CITY LODGE HOTEL GROUP’S INDUSTRY FOOTPRINT
The City Lodge Hotel Group operates 52 hotels throughout South Africa, with 6,440 rooms on offer. It also has a hotel in Gaborone, Botswana, and a 50% stake in two hotels in Nairobi, Kenya. As a leading provider of accommodation to business and leisure travellers, City Lodge Hotel Group appreciates that the market in which it is operating has evolved in line with global trends, and connectivity is thus of growing importance to its patrons.
PARTNERSHIP WITH MWEB
The City Lodge Hotel Group has joined forces with internet service provider MWeb, which is owned by media group Naspers. According to TechCentral, MWeb plans to build a national Wi-Fi network and as such has “deployed Wi-Fi to Canal Walk and N1 City, shopping centres near Cape Town, and to the Protea Glen Mall in Soweto. It intends to have rolled out Wi-Fi to 150 venues around the country by the end of March.”
Once registered with the hotel, guests’ devices will be able to auto-connect whenever they are in an MWeb Wi-Fi zone, so they can then roam seamlessly without having to reconnect each time. Nathier Kasu, Head of Digital at MWeb, says that once you are connected to one of the City Lodge Hotels, “it’s like taking your home Wi-Fi network with you” – and that is exactly what the City Lodge Hotel Group always wants for its guests!
